Sure Data Centres first to achieve ISO/IEC 27001:2013 across the Channel Islands

Sure’s Data Centre business (in Jersey, previously known as Foreshore) has become the first to be accredited with the international standard for Information Security Management: ISO/IEC27001:2013, across its data centres in both Jersey and Guernsey. This means that Sure is currently the only combined data centre and cloud services business in the Channel Islands with the ISO accreditation.

At the same time as gaining the accreditation in both islands, Sure has also maintained its status as a top-tier data security supplier for users of the payment card industry. Sure has achieved this through its re-accreditation as a PCI-DSS Level One Service Provider in both Jersey and Guernsey, having been assessed to the standards of the latest version (3.1).

In order to achieve the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 status, which is the international benchmark for Information Security Management, Sure had to undertake a detailed and thorough independent audit across many of its business areas. “Achieving ISO 27001 status across all of our datacentres in the Channel Islands has been a long, challenging and ultimately worthwhile process. This accreditation means that our customers can be assured that Sure operates to the highest levels of information security and they can be confident that their data is safe and secure when it is held in our centres,” said Davey Sandiford, Information Security Officer at Sure.

“I’m delighted that we have also achieved the latest PCI-DSS Level One accreditation because this is a vitally important standard needed to continue serving industries such as eCommerce and eGaming.

“Being a PCI-DSS Level One Service provider allows us to assist both local and international businesses that handle payment data with their PCI-DSS requirements, and provides additional confidence to them that their data is hosted in a secure environment.”

In order to maintain its PCI-DSS accreditation, Sure has to undergo annual independent audits conducted by a PCI-DSS Qualified Security Assessor (QSA). In undertaking the audit, the datacentre’s infrastructure, personnel, processes and procedures are measured against PCI-DSS Standards.
